We arrived at the Hotel Orel as a group of 50 young travellers from 27 countries. Hotel Orel is completely renovated, in the centre of the town, calm and quiet, it offers breakfast for every taste, the beds are comfortable and for all shapes and sizes, showers are large and luxurious … We had a nice stay, everybody loved the town of Maribor. I stayed at the 5th floor. The hotel is all renovated with clean and modern spaces and comfortable rooms. Centrally located you can walk everywhere, 10 min walk to the train and bus stations. Excellent breakfast buffet with all sorts of options: eggs, sausages, rolls, bread, cheese, salads, waffles, cereal, juice, coffee, etc…. Nice touch the possibility to go to Fontana thermal pools for an end relaxing day.

Carefully redecorated city hotel right in the culttural and shopping district of the old town. Rooms with light furniture, comfortable bed and many bathroom amenities. Bonus for hotel guests: free entrance to casino and Maribor Terme Fontana (bus for Fontana starts one block from the hotel , costs 0,45 € and takes 10 min.). Large area for outdoor and indoor relaxation. owned by the same company, which manages the hotel.
Dont miss free hot buffet breakfast before departure, it even offers a wafer-making machine for self service which produces delicious desserts with fruits, maple sirup etc.

Well I decided to give the Hotel a second try as it had recently undergone major renovation. Ignoring the fact that the roof was still missing from part of the Hotel and the 8am Construction Work wake up call, I couldn't have been any more happy with the Hotel. I stayed on a 6 day/5 night City package including Breakfast and Dinner which for £160, was tremendous value for Money. The Reception was bright, warm and welcoming, breakfasts substantial, staff amenable and the Rooms were bright and tastefully furnished.
All in all, the refit has brought this Hotel up to 21st Century standards and I would highly recommend visiting this well located City Centre Hotel.

I stayed in the upgraded "apartment" of this hotel. The apartment was great. It had an office, living room, queen bed, bathroom with huge bathtub but no shower. It was tastefully decorated and clean. Breakfast is great, I would do recommend not skipping the complimentary breakfast.
The hotel is however downtown in a great location.
Would I recommend it: Only the apartment rooms as long as you are accustomed to European standards.
