In the botanical garden – located below the green foothills of Pohorje – visitors are surrounded by indigenous and foreign flora. Admire them during a stroll through the garden or at happenings in the field of botany here, as also with new happenings from around the world, get acquainted in more detail with the help of a guided tour (bookings in advance).
The plant world of Pohorje, northeastern Slovenia and… foreign continents
Along with representatives of indigenous flora, especially those which surround you in our locality, that is vegetation of Pohorje and northeastern Slovenia, you will also find representatives of trees, bushes, perennials, medicinal and aquatic plants from other continents – Asia, Africa, America and Australia. As a research institution this gives us the cheapest way to comprehending plants, and recreation among them throughout all the seasons of the year.
The diversity of the plants can be for example illustrated with the plantation of indigenous and exotic trees below the psychiatric hospital Pohorski dvor, where among others also grow: 120 year old sequoia, Thuja with a circumference of 364 cm, Abies nordmanniana, Tsuga canadensis, Lawson’s cypress, red leafed beech tree, larch, magnolia, yew etc.

Take a rest at the resting place where there are benches and tables or in the local, where you can sit in the shade of trees with a coffee or a fruit drink, and at the weekend you can also treat yourself to something sweet.
